Sydney born Hong Kong drummer and composer Manson Luk has established himself as a prominent musician and bandleader, with music spanning across Jazz, Hip-hop, Gospel and contemporary music.
He is involved in award-winning projects, including Sydney jazz collective “Zodiac”, and has continued to be an advocate for cross cultural partnerships between Australia and Asia. Manson has worked with several prominent artists and performed at various venues and festivals, including the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Conservatorium International Jazz Festival, and SXSW Sydney Festival. Performances also include nationally and internationally recognised venues such as the Sydney Opera House, ABC Studios, Jazz Lab (Melbourne), Jazz Music Institute (Brisbane), Amber Jazz (Tokyo) and Fountain De Chopin (Hong Kong).
Featuring Thomas Avgenicos (tpt), Justin Yeo (sax), Jacques Emery (bass), Roshan Kumarage (piano) and himself, the quintet will be performing a setlist of music that speak to the group on a deeply personal level, drawing from jazz and modern compositions that reflect their upbringing and experiences, including original works from Manson Luk, Zodiac, Javier Santiago and Hong Kong musicians Alan Kwan, Jonas Cho and more.
