Tour Ready
Tour Ready was a SIMA initiative supported by Sound NSW which aimed to develop and maintain sustainable touring networks for jazz musicians, presenters, promoters, festivals and venue operators across NSW.
The project was managed and executed by Matt Keegan and Nick Garbett in 2025. It involved SIMA consulting relevant stakeholders statewide across a detailed series of workshops and panels to produce a report based on its industry-led research, aimed at working towards solutions and strategies to enable, support and produce touring activity for NSW jazz and improvising musicians. In addition to the multiple regionally-based consultations, a National Jazz Festival Symposium was convened at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music that brought together key interstate stakeholders, designed to strengthen pathways, partnerships and collaborations. The project’s ultimate outcome – a behemoth report authored by acclaimed jazz musician, composer and educator – Matt Keegan, is now an accessible resource made available to the entire sector.
