“The composing and improvising are of equal merit – some achievement for such an ambitious genre-defying project.” – John Shand, SMH
The Paul Cutlan String Project perform a profound and uplifting program from their new album, ‘Living’. Bridging classical, jazz and global styles, ‘Living’ touches on themes of motherhood, friendship, memory, conflict and reflection. At the heart of the performance is a major work reflecting on the sorrow, horror and pointlessness of war.
Featuring the cream of Sydney’s string players, the group also boasts the talents of bassist Brett Hirst, with special guest Gary Daley on piano, along with the warm emotive tones of Cutlan’s reeds.
