REGIONAL TOURING PROGRAM

Bungarribee

Funded by SIMA’s National Touring Program

“It’s a rare sensation these days, but there is still such exhilaration in being taken to the edge of the possible”

– John Shand – SMH

Bungarribee, led by highly respected pianist, accordionist and composer Gary Daley, features pre‑eminent Australian musicians. Each has made significant contributions to jazz, classical and world music.

As a child, Daley traveled down Bungarribee road in Sydney’s outer western suburbs to his earliest music lessons, and since he has enjoyed a lifelong journey of musical discovery.

The group embarks on a creative journey that unfolds via deep communication and improvisation. They performing original music and fresh improvisations on music by iconic composers such as Bartok, Ligeti, and Bach. Bungarribee’s music fuses diverse traditions such as jazz, folk, and classical forms.

At the centre of a Bungarribee performance are the audience as they witness the freedom and connection between musicians. For this musical adventure, Gary Daley will be joined by longtime artistic partners, Paul Cutlan, and Ollie Miller along with one of Australia’s most remarkable young musicians, drummer Chloe Kim.
