Phil Slater is recognised as one of Australia’s most original and accomplished artists. He has gained wide-spread critical acclaim, earning him almost every major jazz award in Australia including a National Jazz and Bell Award and the Freedman Fellowship for Jazz. Leader or co-leader of Sun Songbook, Band of Five Names, Trace Sphere and lecturer at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, he has performed and recorded with many artists including; Archie Roach, Mike Nock, Katie Noonan, the Australian Art Orchestra, PNAU, DIG, Vince Jones and Missy Higgins.
Phil’s work has featured in performances for the Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir Street Theatre and Legs on the Wall. A former student of Peter Sculthorpe, his current research work explores landscape representation in Australian music.

Inspired by the hypnotic hills of Norway, this mesmerising collaboration for voice and electronics is the culmination of an ongoing musical conversation which spans five years and three continents. The project presents a collection of original compositions and refreshing arrangements. The duo draws on their experience touring, teaching and performing across Asia, Europe and Australia.
