Ghosts Between Streams is a new multidisciplinary work by 2022 Freedman Fellow, composer and trumpeter Tom Avgenicos. Collaborating with a team of cutting-edge creatives including jazz quartet Delay 45, Apex String Quartet, visual artist Jordan East, and contemporary dancers Reina Takeuchi and Gerard Cabellon, Avgenicos draws inspiration from daily walks through Stringybark Creek Reserve on Cammeraygal Country.
With an over-arching environmental concern, Avgenicos weaves a tapestry of music, visuals and dance to create a vivid picture of the reserve’s rich flora and fauna, now threatened by urban development.
Ghosts Between Streams is a thought-provoking work that explores solastalgia and the struggle between nature and urbanisation, and promises to take audiences on a spellbinding journey brimming with emotion, colour and texture.
