“…still one of the year’s best kept secrets. …[Her] strength as a songwriter comes from her deep musical sensibility …and her ability to share life’s important moments with a quietly confident power”

–  Richard Kingsmill, abc.net.au

This Winter, SIMA presents a series of unique concerts to answer the question – What is Jazz:NOW?

With the shimmering reflections of Sydney Harbour against the cool night sky, this concert will transport you to an innermost place of serenity and contemplation. An intimate affair.

An opening solo set from legendary electric bass virtuoso Steve Hunter will realign your perceptions of jazz, and open your mind to the new world of improvised music.

Then, spellbinding vocalist Martha Marlow and luminary pianist Chris Abrahams presents a preview to her upcoming duo album, ‘Queen of the Night’. Named after the elusive and hauntingly exquisite flower that only blooms for one night a year, this mesmerizing album performance can only be heard at the Sydney Opera House, exclusively for SIMA.
