The music was conceived as a lyrical and upbeat response to turbulent times. The music combines jazz with African and French influences – music that has long fascinated Chris who lived in France for many years. There are minimalist and trance elements in bassist Lloyd Swanton’s work with the Necks, and saxophonist Sandy Evans has long explored Indian music in her various music projects. Nic Cecire is always tasteful and grooving. They combine Chris’s compositions with free group and solo improvisations to take the listener on a journey rich in groove and melody.
"Monday Night Confessions" is a weekly show presenting original jazz/improvised music. Run out of Church Street Studios in Camperdown, Sydney. Doors 7:30pm, BYO drinks.
