The Chilean-born vocalist’s sound has been likened to the refined lyricism of Astrud Gilberto and the understated warmth of Norah Jones, balancing both lightness and darkness.
A dedicated and deeply informed musician, Mira’s artistic voice has been shaped across continents. From her formative studies at the prestigious Escuela Moderna de Música to a Bachelor of Music at the Australian Institute of Music, Mira has absorbed the rhythmic and melodic traditions of her South American roots alongside the musical influences of the English-speaking world, cultivating a uniquely expressive voice within Australia’s Latin-jazz landscape.
For this performance she is joined by three of Australia’s most distinguished improvisers — Ben Hauptmann (guitar,) Jonathan Zwartz (double bass) and James Hauptmann (drums). Together, they create a musical dialogue where rhythm and harmony move fluidly between tradition and modernity, deftly engaging songs from Chile, Peru, Brazil as well as those drawn from the great American songbook.
