Evoking the spirit of Billie Holiday, Joni Mitchell, Blossom Dearie and Jill Scott – whether it be her through own compositions, her deft interpretations of selections from the great American songbook or her unique adaptations of popular song, McCarthy’s performances always dig deep and deliver.
A prolific and globally recognised artist, she has shared stages and collaborations with Jimmy Barnes, Neil and Tim Finn, Paul Mac, Ngaiire, Thundamentals and Chet Faker — bringing her distinctive voice to audiences across the world. Her “funny, acerbic and witty” solo show, ‘Billie McCarthy Takes Up Space,’ was performed at Sydney Fringe Festival and Melbourne Fringe Festival to acclaim.
In this performance, she will be joined by esteemed Sydney-based guitarist Ben Panucci — an in-demand Sydney-based guitarist, songwriter and producer — with whom she has developed a profound, long-standing musical rapport.
