Over the last few years, I have been thoroughly impressed at the diversity and excellence of the musical work resulting from the emerging composer’s program” – Paul Cutlan, composer.

This annual program gives 2 – 4 emerging musicians the chance to receive free mentorship sessions with a musicians of their choice. During these sessions, the mentee’s will write a new work for large jazz ensemble. 

Each mentee also will receive a financial contribution towards their next artistic project. 

Program Details

Who is eligible to apply?

Emerging and mid-career jazz musicians who are under 40, with the drive and inspiration to compose a new work for a large ensemble. Applicants must reside in Australia.

Individual program includes

$1500 fee to the composer
$1000 fee to the mentor for four sessions
Premiere and/or recording of the composition
