big ears (2019)

Delay 45 create contrasting sound worlds though songs, loops and colours that are weaved and morphed together through improvisation. Being mentored by some of the world’s leading improvising musicians and many years of playing together has culminated in their shared improvisational language. Their debut album ‘big ears’ is the product of this process.

A unique emerging Australian jazz voice, Delay 45 move seamlessly between structure and spontaneity to create an immersive listening experience. The Sydney Morning Herald described the group as a “bold new chapter in Australian jazz”. The group have quickly gained recognition among peers, critics and audiences for their recent release “Big Ears”.

Masterful improvisations brimming with colour and texture.

Tom Avgenicos (trumpet), Roshan Kumarage (piano), Dave Quinn (bass) Ashley Stoneham (drums)
