The Sydney Improvised Music Association is proud to announce the re-opening of its Emerging Composers Mentorship program and is currently inviting applications from talented composers.
As part of the project, the four chosen composers will be paired with a leading Australian jazz artist who will mentor them through four creative development sessions, to write a new work for a large jazz ensemble (up to ten pieces).
Who is eligible to apply?
Emerging and mid-career musicians who are under 40, with the drive and inspiration to compose a new work for a large ensemble. Applicants must reside in Australia.

Individual program includes
- $1500 fee to the composer
- $1000 fee to mentor for four sessions
- Promote and/or present the debut performance of the composition
