The Sydney Improvised Music Association and APRA AMCOS are inviting applications from young female composers to write a new work for a large jazz ensemble (ten pieces) to be premiered at the Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival.
As part of the project, the chosen composer will be paired with a leading Australian jazz artist who will act as a mentor during a 16-week creative development period. During the project, the recipient will workshop the commission with Pharos, before its world-premiere which will include a recording.
Who is eligible to apply? Composers who identify as women, and gender minorities who feel they would benefit from a program designed for women in music. All applicants must be APRA AMCOS members.
